Bioluminescent fruiting bodies on decaying hardwood.
A survey team working a ridge above the Kwitaro headwaters recorded a bioluminescent fungus on decaying hardwood that does not match any described species from the Guiana Shield.
The fruiting bodies emit a pale green light from the gills, strongest for roughly ninety minutes after dusk. Specimens were photographed in situ and a single cap was collected for sequencing.
Formal description is expected to take several months. The site has been logged for repeat visits during the next wet season.
