A single animal was recorded at dawn in grassland south of the protected area boundary, the first record from that sector.

A giant anteater in open grassland, photographed at dawn.
A camera station placed south of the protected area boundary recorded a giant anteater at first light, the first observation from a sector that has never been surveyed.
The animal crossed the frame over roughly forty seconds, apparently following a termite trail through open grassland at the forest edge.
The station was one of eight installed on private land with the landowner's permission. Rangers say the record supports extending the grid further south.
