Six students from schools in Lethem and Aishalton have joined the desk as junior field assistants for the next two academic terms, working alongside our reporting teams in the Kanuku Mountains.

They will help with camera-trap downloads, sound recordings, and the unglamorous work of sorting and labelling footage. Two will produce their own short reports for this site before the year ends.

The placements are paid and include transport, which the programme considers the minimum for asking young people to spend school holidays in the field.
